They can be natural or man-made, and their beauty and enjoyment may be enhanced by their shorelines, reflections, inhabitants (e. g., birds, fish) and sometimes clouds and fog. Lakes vary in depth and size from small puddles to shallow ponds to large, deep bodies (known as seas).
