Shadows are ubiquitous and distinct from silhouettes. You cannot escape shadows; we live in a world of shadows. Everyone (as well as objects) have their own ever-changing shadow depending on the absence or presence of light. Shadows play an important role in providing depth, perspective and balance to a scene. A silhouette (see the Collection) is the dark shape of a person and/or object against a much brighter background. Sometimes shadows and silhouettes are present in the same scene and/or image.
