Dettifoss, situated on the Jokulsa a Fjollum river which flows from the Vatnajökull glacier, is said to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe. The thunderous falls is 100 metres (330 feet) wide and plummets 45 metres (150 feet) into Jokulsargljufur canyon. Also within this canyon are three other impressive waterfalls, Selfoss (see Gallery), Hafragilsfoss (see Gallery) and Rettarfoss.
