The vast Eldhraun Lava Field, over 220 square miles (565 square kilometers) in South Iceland) is the largest in the world. Dating back to a late 1700s volcano eruption, this stunningly surreal place is like no other. Also, note that in early Autumn, moss retains its grayish-green color; however later in Autumn, moss color changes to a light brown-tan. It's like being on another world.
