The Greater Reykjavik Area includes Iceland's capital and largest city (with two-thirds of its population) in addition to its multiple surrounding natural areas. Reykjavik is a modern city with a wealth of attractions from superb art galleries and museums, the stunning Hallgrimskirkja church, numerous geothermal spas and pools including the Blue Lagoon, and a plethora of great restaurants, bars, concerts, food halls and shopping venues. In addition to nearby hiking areas like the Ellidaardalur Valley, Reykjavik is also the starting point for single and multi-day tours to natural wonders across Iceland (see Galleries).
